The Chimp Skull was my first attempt to make an animatronic robot, using a 3d printer. I started halfway 2015, and kept on going until I had a full skull and neck, all articulated and motorized using remote controlled servos. My friend Gerson Main called me and asked if I had ideas for his music video and I told him about my robot.
I went over to the video shoot a month later and the chimp skull had its first acting gig!
Getting the chimp to move everything in time for the shot turned out to be nerve wrecking. I only brought some basic tools and should have brought a soldering iron.
I decided to retire the Chimp skull (back then I called it the ‘Grobot) and started designing a Bigfoot Skull, at twice the size of the Chimp Skull.
