I made a wooden bench for the balcony. I made a 3D design first,and scaled it to ergonomic life size. Then I measured all the parts so I knew exactly how many wooden planks I would need. I have this incredible saw that can cut planks at a double angle with laser precision.

So then I picked up the wood, scaffolding planks made from ash, I think. And a box of stainless torx screws.

In Holland, when you learn about carpentry, the first thing the teacher tells you is to ‘let the saw do the work’. Over the years I mastered that. I am currently looking for a screwdriver that ‘does the rest of the work in my absence’. Please have your computer notify me when you see one on the web and I’ll tell SIRI to deliver it to me. I’m busy walking to the refrigerator for a new beer.

There’s also a little square table. My girlfriend and I spend a lot of time on the balcony now. ‘The Bench’ makes it feel like a holiday resort.
