There was no briefing for the first album cover I did for Chocolate Puma. We just sat down at CP’s headquarters and discussed visual stuff. We soon found out that we share a lot of interests. I brought my (Norman Mailer’s) ‘Moonfire’ book with lots of space travel and 1969 moonlanding photos. We discussed our favorite cars.

It turned out that as kids we all had our favorite matchbox car. Mine was a chevy camaro. Rene had a Lancia Stratos. Gaston had a Lamborghini Marzal. Rene was collecting real size cars at the time as well. I believe he had a Donkervoort, a Jeep, a Tuscan, Gaston was into alfa Romeos. We just had to have a space theme combined with our favorite cars. This wasn’t hard, I just thought of the rings of Saturn, consisting of billions of rocks. that could work with cars as well. Maybe humans could find a way to have millions of car wrecks in an orbit around earth. That would be cool to visit. More interesting than just one Tesla on top of a rocket.
Among the wreckage you can see some of our favorite cars. There’s an AMC Pacer, a Lada Niva, A Donkervoort, a Camaro, the Back to the future DeLorean and loads more.
And then of course there’s Laika, the little dog that the russians hurled into space in their Sputnik satellite. On this cover Rene and Gaston are paying tribute to Laika by visiting his remains in space.

This version without the wrecked cars found its way to the t-shirt printer. I would wear it If I had one.
